Which materials are most resistant to moisture and dirt
- Breathable cotton — absorbs less moisture than cheap synthetic fibers, dries faster, and holds up very well to repeated washing without losing its shape.
- Waterproof Oxford fabric — ideal for dogs that drool a lot or puppies in training; the technical fabric prevents liquid from reaching the filling.
- Corduroy — good resistance to wear, but dries more slowly than cotton when exposed to significant moisture.
Why cotton performs particularly well day to day
Cotton has an often-underestimated advantage: it naturally regulates moisture and temperature, preventing odors from settling into poorly ventilated synthetic materials. For a dog that drools or regularly makes a mess, wash the cover every 1 to 2 weeks, compared with every 3 to 4 weeks for normal use. A quick wipe with a damp sponge between full washes helps limit odors without running the machine too often.
